American House Spring Lake: Age in Place and Grace
Seniors never worry about finding new care options as they age here; American House Spring Lake offers independent living, assisted living, memory care, respite care and hospice coordination. Residents can customize all these options, meaning they only add the support they need to be independent. For instance, an independent living senior can choose à la carte assisted living services like medication management or a helping hand with personal care tasks (bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility and more). Or, if memory is becoming a challenge, seniors might benefit from the cognition-focused memory care neighborhood, where compassionate, highly trained caregivers can help them live fulfilled lives.
No matter the care level, seniors at this community receive housekeeping, laundry and restaurant-style meals as part of their monthly rates.

American House Spring Lake was nice. It had a two-bedroom-two-bathroom that it could have gotten there, but the view out the window kind of turned me off because it was overlooking the parking lot. I don't want to spend my days looking at a parking lot. The apartment itself was great, but the view was horrible. The person I spoke with was very patient because I don't move fast because I use a walker. She was very patient and very thorough about what was available. I got the chance to see most of the facilities, and they seemed to be nice. Everything looked good. She had put some effort into my visit to the point that she had a little gift bag for me with some stuff in it. I saw the weight room, and they had a laundry service, too.

I liked the American House Spring Lake. I thought it was nice. I liked the location and the facilities. The person I talked to was also very nice. The rooms were spacious and very homey, and I liked the views out the windows. She also showed me where they eat, the library, the activity room, and the exercise room. She showed me a little bit of everything and kind of explained the different activities they had. The facility was very well maintained. Everything was clean and looked very good. Once a week, they have a bus that will take them out and about.
Read moreI thought American House Spring Lake was nice. It was clean and friendly. The apartment included a bedroom, a kitchen, and a living room. It has a stove and a dishwasher. The staff who took us around was very friendly and informed us about a lot of things.

American House Spring Lake didn't feel like a community. It kind of felt impersonal. The buildings are not connected. Each building houses something different. The independent ones are all connected with like a walkway, but the memory center is not connected to the assisted living ones or whatever. All the memory care people are in one area so that was good and it's a locked-in facility, but I was not impressed at all. When we walked into the unit to see the memory care place, every single one of the staff members was standing behind the desk talking to each other. When we came back down the hallway, they looked up, saw us, and ran out from the desk and sat down next to a resident. I can't give them a good rating. The person that went through all the questions with us seemed like she was bothered by us being there. The facility looked clean. It just didn't look like there was a lot of staff interaction. It didn't feel like a welcoming community, but on the independent side, we met a couple of people working on puzzles and they were friendly. The staff during the tour was professional, but she wasn't very friendly. She answered my questions, but she didn't sympathize well with us. I walked through the dining area, but I didn't have any food when we were there. It looks like they have good choices. There was a bus that showed up that was loading some people up to do like a tour in the neighborhood. For memory care, they provide a bed, a dresser, and the basics, so that was helpful, too. There was an outdoor space. From the dining area, you could get out that door and then it kind of has a patio-looking thing all the way around with tables and chairs. We didn't go out there because it was cold. The room had a kitchenette kind of thing in it. It had a sink and some counter space. There were lots of nice views out the window. It's a pretty setting.
