I went to Bickford of Omaha - Hickory yesterday. It was a nice place. It's small, which makes it nicer. In my mind, it needs to be small, and it was. It's very well done and very tasteful. I like that they offer a variety of home-cooked meals, and I like the small area, which makes it easier to look after the people that are staying there, and they have activities for them. I know they have them every day and I think they have them pretty much all day long. I went all through the place, and it was nice. The room I saw was under renovation, so there was a lot of stuff laying around. It was not big, but it was big enough for one person, and that's fine. They take care of all their medications. They have a nurse that does that every day, and they have a nurse on staff all the time. I was impressed. The staff was very knowledgeable and very professional.

I did a tour of Bickford of Omaha - Hickory. I like them very well. I got to meet some of the staff. They were very pleasant and showed me around. One of the things that I was impressed with is, they have these wristbands that they wore rather than wearing a pendant. The wristband tracked their movements and stuff, so if anything out of the ordinary happened or what was going on, they could respond to it very quickly. When we were taking the tour, one of the people living there came up and she was kind of crying. The lady that was showing us around hugged her. Of all of them, that was the place I was the most impressed with what happened. The dining area was pleasant. They had the menu up so they could know what was going to be served. The staff made a point of showing me that. The facility was a little darker, to me, a lot of light is important because I think that affects people.

I toured Bickford of Omaha - Hickory and I would say I was very satisfied with the tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and polite and made me feel very comfortable. The space wasn't exactly what I was hoping for. The rooms were a little bit smaller than I was hoping for. I think my mom would need a bit more space. I didn't like that the bedroom and the living room were kind of one combined space. So that was a turn-off for me. I enjoyed the fact that they had a nice sunroom and garden area. I also believe I had a tour of the salon, and it was really cute.
Read moreMy sister and I visited with Mary for a tour. We were overwhelmed with the cleanliness, comfort and professionalism of the staff and management. There are limited rooms for couples, so for right now this is not an option for my parents, but I wish it was.
The cna and medication aids and cook staff goes above and beyond to help the residents. Activites are great. Common issues are items being found in residents apartments that belong to other residents. Lack of ability for family and friends to direct care.
Friends had their parents there and where abused. Didn't like the feel of the place and they had no openings fortunately.
