I liked the place until about a month ago. There is a theft problem that I'm not sure they have addressed. They did not have a safe drawer with a lock available for at least 2 1/2 months, not sure if she has one yet. They are having a large staff turnover and as of 3 weeks ago they don't eat together because of Covid. My mom also had to stay in the hospital 2 extra days because the Brookdale nurse delayed getting to the hospital for a dismissal evaluation

It was a horrible experience and they should not even be in business. The safety of my father in law was a big concern as they did not serve his meals correctly, his meds on time, properly bath, or take care of his apartment. We didn't last a month there and had to move him out. The communication was terrible. When asked to respond to our concerns we were met with silence. It was such a high price and not worth one penny.

We were planning to move my mother to Brookdale Arbor Place, and I was not thrilled with how I was treated, especially once my mother passed away. My situation was I put in a deposit for my mother to move in, and the deposit was very expensive at over $10,00. But they did not have a unit ready and it took them two weeks to get that unit ready. Well, in that two weeks, my mother passed away and they did not return the full deposit to me, they took a portion of it. It took me six weeks of badgering people to get the money back, I was greatly disappointed with how it was handled. I was also not very impressed with the quality of the room. The layout was fine, it just seemed that the finishes were cheap, it was dreary and it wasn't uplifting. The unit wasn't ready when we placed a deposit, and they never called me to tell me the unit was ready, I had to call them. The unit was never available for rent, so in my mind, I never saw a reason for them to keep any of the deposit because they weren't out any revenue. I was close to retaining an attorney because they weren't returning my calls. I would not go back there.

My mother is at Brookdale Arbor. The facility is dark and dreary. The carpets are stained and some halls have a urine smell. They don’t have an activity room so everything is just held in the dining room. She feels cooped up. The meals are on par with institutional food. Not great not poor. There’s a high turn over for staff and the aids are over worked. She’s sometimes reluctant to push her button to get her needs met because she doesn’t want to tax the staff. They have two outings a week but the van only holds 12 people so she can’t get out as often as she’d like. Overall I feel we’re paying way more than what we’re getting in return.

When I was looking for a place for my loved one as being assisted living, one of my criteria was to make sure they had a spend down. They did but then something occurred with my loved one and she was in and out of the ER. They told me they could no longer keep her and that she needed memory care and I agreed. I also picked them because they had memory care available. I found out that it was not a spend down though and I was never told that in the beginning. Then I had to go through the whole process again.
