The entire experience in Assisted Living was wonderful. The facility, the cleanliness, the accommodations for dementia, the love, the food, the care, the communication. The Household (nursing) experience was quite different. While the facility was still lovely and immaculately clean, and most of the staff did a terrific job accommodating dementia while navigating Covid, a number of the aides on day shift gave unacceptable care, bordering on neglect near the end of her life.

I started working in 2016 as an Activity Assistant in Garden View, the memory care unit of Chapel Pointe, and loved every single day with the residents. I had to leave in 2017 to further my education. Garden View has a very homey atmosphere where residents get specialized care by learning each of the resident''s unique needs and preferences and then creating an individualized program of activities and care based on those preferences. And then I transitioned to Nursing Assistant and Medication Technician when I returned in 2020. I really appreciated the fact that my co-workers gave me a good welcome back peer interview and that my superiors trusted me. I then started also working in Personal Care which furthered my experience and knowledge being in direct care with the residents. In Personal Care residents drive their own schedules with breakfast, bathing, sleeping and medication administration on flexible schedules designed around individual needs. It is not a traditional facility with set schedules where everybody needs to wake up at the same time and eat at the same time or sleep at the same time. We believe and respect our resident''s dignity. Chapel Pointe has been voted The Best of Cumberland County in 2021 and also for the past several years. And it really deserves it!

We moved my father into Chapel Pointe when caring for him became too difficult at home. We moved my father into Chapel Pointe when caring for him became too difficult at home. It helped that a couple of his siblings were already residents and their children (our cousins) said we should do whatever was needed to get him a spot there. Initially he lived in the Personal Care wing, where the staff patiently helped him and our family make the adjustments needed for such a big change. Near the end of his first year, his needs shifted and he was moved into the Skilled Care area. His care, the loving nursing staff (who treated him with dignity also communicated regularly with our family), the administrative staff (who helped intensively with the financial processes) and the overall sense of positive commitment to the residents well-being make Chapel Pointe a ''no-regret'' choice for the care of daddy.
