My father-in-law was at Kokomo Place. He was only there for a week. He was a diabetic, so they made sure he got his insulin, his meals, and the medicines that he needed. They got him up and walking and stuff. The place was nice, but he probably needed more care than what that place was really set out to provide. They had church services, and singing and people can come down and get there. But he kind of went downhill pretty fast after he got in there, so it wasn't like he was able to take advantage of a lot of it. The staff was great. The people were nice and helpful. The lady coordinator that set us up with the room was super nice and super friendly. She took plenty of time with us and answered all our questions. The staff that prepared the meals and the housekeeping were just super nice. I did not try any food, but my wife and my sister-in-law said the food looked really good. I thought the place was outstanding. It looked clean and nice. It had a little fireplace in the front and a little sitting area for people to get around. We've recommended it to a couple of people since then. I can't say enough good stuff about the place. Any concerns we had going into it, they took care of it before my father-in-law even showed up.

I'm sure they have larger rooms, but I was only looking at a one-bedroom. It's not enough room in there for me, I feel like I would be in a little box. The staff, was lovely, I enjoyed being with her. She knew her job very well and explained things in detail to me. Their dining area is beautiful, I like it. I would feel comfortable and at home. I noticed they go on trips, like to the store or the mall. They have activities for them. There's a place to play games and play cards. I think that's very nice because they keep you busy, and they do puzzles to keep your mind active. Because of the size of the room, I can only give them a rating of three. The staff were wonderful and very knowledgeable about what they were telling me. The people I talked to were very nice.

The thing I liked about it was there were more men at this facility than I've seen at other places. They also have a courtyard, an area where they play cards together, and a living room area. It's a very welcoming facility.

We went with Kokomo Place because the initial visit was good, the explanation and anticipation and the fact that they are pet friendly and my dad has a dog. His dog is now part of the community and everyone loves her. They have been very cooperative and accommodating and are keeping him at a reasonable level of care. The food is pretty boring to him, he said that it seems bland and it is not very nutritious so they could improve in that area. Overall they have done a good job and I would recommend them to others.
