My mother was in the long term care here for a little less than a year. While there, staff turnover has been very chaotic. In less than a year there has been multiple changes in administrators, Human Resources, nursing staff and persons handling finance and billing. They lost my mother’s financial records multiple times. Patients in the long term care are often just left unattended in the dining area and if they are immobile, they are not changed and cleaned regularly. There are so many things wrong with this place I would never recommend sending your loved one’s to Lorien Elkridge. Unfortunately because of events at Lorien, my mothers is no longer with us. Please find a place that will care for your loved ones the way they should be cared for.

My aunt went there due to some health problems I took her out of there immediately when I went to visit her she had been there for a couple of months, it''s the lack of nurses'' food was like jail food. She never got what she had ordered. When approaching the assistant manager in the kitchen, you get an immature attitude, and she couldn''t even answer simple questions I had about certain diet foods that she is supposed to be eating. It is just plain terrible. Never send your loved ones their

The grounds look nice. There are a few very friendly, very knowledgeable staff. There are also a LOT of people just putting in the hours there, with little or no concern for their residents'' well-being. My father had two stays at Lorien Elkridge after a fall and UTI. The first stay ended after about a week with Dad being resuscitated in the back of an ambulance. Cause? Despite his wearing incontinence pants which required regular changing and also requiring a nurse in order to visit the actual bathroom, nobody noticed that he hadn''t passed urine for over 36 hours, leading to fatal levels of potassium in his system. The second ended after another 5 days, when an outside nurse doing an evaluation of Dad for potential long-term care advised Lorien''s duty nurse that my father probably had pneumonia. I heard about this not from Lorien themselves, but through the third party helping in my father''s long-term care placement. When I went to the facility to check in on him, I found Dad coughing uncontrollably in his room and insisted that he be transported to a hospital (which for some reason required them to wait for approval from their (off duty) doctor?). Once in the emergency room they were able to begin treatment of his pneumonia (acquired at Lorien Elkridge) as well as his case of Covid-19 (also acquired at Lorien Elkridge) and dehydration--in my near-daily visits with my father there, his first request was ALWAYS for something to drink as the staff apparently felt that a small cup each of juice and water with meals represented enough fluids for an elderly patient. While this pales in comparison to the absolutely dreadful level of care at Lorien Elkridge, I''m now receiving the bills for my father''s stays which offer two payment options: mailing a check to the facility (like pretty much everybody I no longer have paper checks), or going to the facility in person where experience has taught me that my options will be physical check (see above), cash (and a lot of it), or credit/debit with a "convenience fee". It is less than 3 weeks to 2024 as I type this, and not having an online payment portal is just ridiculous. DO NOT SEND ANYBODY YOU CARE ABOUT TO THIS FACILITY!!!

My husband has been to Lorien Elkrige 3 or 4 times. Never have I experienced what we did this time. He had a stroke 4 years ago and due to a recent fall had to back to rehab. Six days after getting there he called me and said he was having shooting pains in his head. They gave him Tylenol and I called the nurse to tell her how bad it was. When I called later in the evening they were sending him out 911. Turned out he had sepsis from improper hand washing. Then when he went back to rehab they were ready to discharge him 2 weeks later. When I tried to ask why I was accused of harassment by the speech therapist. I had only seen the occupational therapist one other time and had no other interactions with staff. He was being discharged home pretty much in the same shape he was in when he was admitted. When he was discharged I picked him up and he told me he had a very bad sore throat but that they didn’t address it. Turns out they have had several cases of Covid and sent him home without testing him. He was positive for Covid!! Do not send your family member here!!!
