My husband just came home from ProMedica Skilled Nursing facility. He was placed in this facility for rehab from a hip being removed and no weight bearing on the affected leg. He received the PT, OT and ST within a few weeks and then was exposed and tested positive for Covid. The isolation for the patients was very cruel and non-caring. The patients were not given a choice of food, no showers and very little human contact with staff. These were very trying times for anyone that was trying to recover from a surgery or injury, least of all with little to no human contact or care. But when my husband was not in isolation, he was treated with the best and professional nursing care possible. RNs Alvin and Mo are such great and attentive nurses. They always give time and attention whenever they are asked to help. CNA Jane is such a caring and professional staff member, she also made sure that my husband had his daily needs and would get things when he needed them, i.e. put on his compression socks daily, ensured that he shaved and brushed his teeth, take his menu to the kitchen, provide personal hygiene items, etc. Also, transportation coordinator Rosemary is the greatest in helping patients, family and nursing staff when they are overwhelmed. Rosemary goes way above and beyond her job, to help the patients, but she has personal contact and cares about families too. I would recommend this facility, but it is important for family members to also be responsible to let the facility know when there are issues with the care they are providing. I believe that a good job starts from the top down, which I don''t feel is represented with the administrator''s support. The staff are great and go above to guarantee the care for their patients. Thank you Jane, Alvin, Mo, Rosemary, Manny, Amanda and Mary Ann; all outstanding staff.

Please avoid placing your family in the care of this facility. Do not give them the benefit of doubt, as I did with my mother. This is especially true for bedridden patients. You must be there constantly to ensure they are actually taken care of. The Administrator, Sharon, does not staff the facility adequately - so bedridden patients will frequently be left waiting for longer than reasonable times for care. The Administrator places policies above the health and well-being of the patients. I reported them to the State for a number of issues. The worst being that my mother was already in a fragile state - had been bedridden for a few weeks - and the Administrator insisted she be moved from the private room she was in to two rooms down due to being Covid positive, when the entire hall was already Covid positive. There was no logical reason to move her, other than the "procedures" that the Administrator puts above the well-being of the patients. The Administrator clearly told me prior to the move that my mother did not have any Covid symptoms. They did not move her in the bed or on a gurney - they forced her to be moved in a wheelchair, despite her fragile state. Immediately upon transfer to the new bed, she went into respiratory distress, and spent three hours gasping for air and crying for help. I''ll stress again that she had no Covid symptoms prior to being moved. She died later that evening. Do not trust the care of your family to this facility. The issues with this facility start with the Administrator and go all the way down the chain to numerous CNAs who are careless and on the verge of negligent.

Even with the hardships that the pandemic has placed upon on the healthcare community, especially those caring for vulnerable populations, this facility continues to put patients first and provide a wonderful quality of care for everyone. Their staff is so caring and only want what’s best for the patient. Plus, they have a very charismatic pufferfish, Richard, who I included a photo of. :) 🐡
