Mayfair House has is a delightful community located in downtown Portsmouth, VA. Near the Navel Hospital. The community is being renovated with may upgrades. The community is fully staffed with licensed Caregivers, Medication Aides, LPNs, Resident Care Coordinator, Activities Director, Community Relations Director, Concierge, Culinary Director, Maintenance Director and a seasoned Administrator. Many members of the team have been with Mayfair House for many years. Beauty Parlor, Library, Dining room, two common areas, two activities areas, three outdoor patios onsite parking. Their rooms are private and very large. There are also shared units for those that are on a smaller budgets as well as 1 bedroom studios available. You should definitely take a tour! I would recommend!

Really enjoyed the layout of this building the Jack and Jill rooms are always nice to see great option. Thank you to everyone for making us feel so welcome.

The attitude of the management staff here is repulsive. It seems that they would prefer to hide behind their office doors rather than address any actual issues. When I was able to speak to one individual, whose name I can’t recall(white lady with shoulder tattoos and glasses), she acted as if my ask regarding my deceased grandmother’s room was a chore. There is no congruency between the management staff. Each individual will give you different information which ultimately leads to the so called ‘boss’ saying “well, they aren’t authorized to say that.” The piss poor attitude I experienced was abhorrent and frankly would get you throat punched out on the street. To the medical aides and nursing staff that we had the pleasure of getting to know, you have my sincerest gratitude.

We toured Mayfair house and the facility seemed older and I think it needs some TLC. The location was too far for us and it seemed like they had tons of openings.
Mayfair House is in a great location. From what I have seen it is a nice and clean facility. My only issue is they don't have a vehicle to take the residents to go for outings on such as Walmart or out to eat. They also have a courtyard and I think they should take them outside at least once or twic...

My only issue is they don't have a vehicle to take the residents to go for outings on such as Walmart or out to eat. They also have a courtyard and I think they should take them outside at least once or twice a day so that they can get some from air and a change of scenery. Overall, I would recommend this facility.
