Hello. I use to sell paparazzi jewelry 2 yrs ago. But decided to stop. I have alot of new inventory and for the last year i have been donating to senior homes, for the ladies. So this am, i had dropped off some fashion jewelry to donate for the senior women of Merrill. I left it in the hands of a female (African american) Christine or Christina & her coworker. I specifically said it was to be given to dept of activities. I also said that im sure once i left ,they will want to take a piece of two for themselves and that was fine, just leave some pieces for the senior ladies. This was at 7:30am. It''s really a shame to find out hours later. That those ladies NEVER delivered the box of jewelry to activities. They were caught going thru the jewelry and taking for themselves. How I found out, was I called at 2pm and asked to speak to Karen the person in activities. The box I dropped off had at least 100 pieces of fashion jewelry that I use to see (paparazzi). All new. Even a small Dooney and bourke crossbody bag. Who knows what was left. I tried to do a good deed. Unfortunately that woman ia not to be trusted. Greed is real.

This is a horrible place for assisted living. The only two staff members who are phenomenal are Bernie and Helen. The kitchen and dining room staff are nice. The other attendants, management and med techs are horrible. They didn't give my parent a bath in over a week, even though we are paying for it. They overmedicated my mom and one of the attendants was supposed to be helping her and she fell. DO not send your loved one here.

Update: the company’s response shows little attention to the content of the review. Clearly, I’ve already spoken to the person I’m directed to contact for assistance. Buyer beware: this level of inattention demonstrates perfectly the level of seriousness this company has about the quality of their services. Before placing your loved ones at this facility, please read the reviews below by the president of the residents’ council, Mary Gesteland, as well as Rich G and John & Liz Wade. Those reviews accurately and eloquently describe what life at Merrill Gardens is actually like, not the glossy marketing photos or company Facebook postings and YouTube videos. My parents lived at MG from the fall of 2019 to early 2022. While COVId 19 was an unexpected complication for all senior living facilities, Merrill Gardens continued to charge high fees without providing its residents with the services they contracted to receive. Staff turnover was very high which is particularly sad and upsetting once your family comes to rely on particular caregivers for consistency in care. Facility management and nursing staff (only 1 LPN, not onsite daily; the rest of care is supplied by over stretched “med techs” who receive minimal nursing supervision) also changed more than once. For months, there was no nursing director at all. Complaints or concerns expressed to management (including the corporate VP whose email is listed below) did little other than waste resident’s and family’s time; the management philosophy is to defer, delay or refer to someone else in the company who needs to be consulted before any answers can be given and none ultimately are. This is simply unacceptable for any business with integrity, but more so where vulnerable seniors are concerned. This facility is more interested in collecting fees than caring for its residents or communicating with family. Look elsewhere; there are other facilities in the area that can actually provide the services they advertise.

I have been working closely with the resident care director and the housekeeping manager for several months now to help provide staff who are committed to caring with a commitment to quality. Every interaction has been a positive one and if there''s ever a problem, it has been solved by working together to make sure the residents are being properly cared for. The focus of the management team is on their residents and their staff so they can deliver exceptional care and services.
