We toured Holiday Monarch Estates. The rooms were nice, but it was a high step to get into the shower, so I wasn't impressed with it. The staff who gave us the tour was very good. They had a nice restaurant, and they had recreation rooms. They had transportation to take people to places.
Monarch works to care for the folks who live there. Though not everything is perfect, the staff tries to meet all needs as they arise. They treat folks with fairness and respect.
This community is definitely for independent living, there are no nursing services at all unless you pay extra. This community is definitely for those who want to stay active and can get up and do fun things. It is a really nice community its been wonderful and we would recommend to others.

My loved one is having a wonderful experience. They serve a lot of sandwiches and he has a hard time eating them. Also, on the weekends they serve a lot of boxed lunches. Very welcoming, caring and understanding. Medication personnel is very communicative. Excellent job of locating him to take his medication. My loved one even moved apartments ( moved to larger apartment) and they were so very helpful. Only improvement could be w the food, but honestly, they are doing the best they can due to short staffing situation

My friend has moved into Holiday Monarch Estates, and I don't think she should have. That is independent living, not assisted living because I see a lot of people that shouldn't even be there. They're all hiring private nurses and they're expensive. It's not a place for anybody that needs assistance in any way, to pay extra for everything. If you want your meal brought up to your room, it's $5. If you want someone to give you medicine every day, you have to pay for that. Everything was extra, extra, extra. That's why I was there 24-7, so I could do everything. It's independent living. If you are independent, it's a nice place. They have nice food and nice people. It's great. It's just that she went downhill so fast, I've never seen anybody do it as fast as she did. it's beautiful and well-kept. The decorations for Christmas are awesome. Someone comes in and sings, or they'll do crafts, or they'll have an ice cream sundae day. They also do bingo and minor exercise programs. They do have a little gym with some bikes and striders and things like that. They have a hairdresser that comes in once a week. There's a chapel on the third floor. I heard of a pet group that comes in because they welcome your pets at an extra charge. It doesn't differ what size, some of these dogs were really big, but they had pets that they've had forever. So, they let them in, but it is an extra charge. The food is good. I wish it had a little bit more variety, but it was good. It was well made. They have three meals a day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The only thing I would complain about is they serve you coffee like for breakfast. Then there are those beans that you push to get the coffee out of those. If you get there at 7:30 AM, they're empty and they never refill. But you get a choice of juices, fruits, all different kinds of cereal, hot cereal, and cold cereal; you get your choices. Usually, at lunch, it's a choice of two entrees with a salad, and then at night, it's a soup with one entree. But they also have what they call a healthy choice at the bottom, and you can have that as an alternative lunch or dinner. So, that's really nice. The staff were friendly at the beginning, but when my friend started getting sick, it was getting more and more uncooperative, and I was getting frustrated. But they allowed me to eat in the cafeteria to get a break. My friend would sleep, and I would go down to dinner quick, and they let me have that. That was nice, it's usually $5, I guess. In terms of value for money, if it had been me, I'd give it a five. I wouldn't mind living there at all. But for someone who started getting sick and has no help, it's not a place to be. It's strictly independent, I cannot stress that enough. You have to do everything yourself.
