08/26/2022 Update: Reports from my daughter states that things have changed for the worse, sad to say, since there has been an administrative turnover as well as facility physician. She reports that staff turnover happens far more frequently with short-staffed being the norm. Teeth go unbrushed for a week or more, bathing (even sponge/bed baths) happen infrequently. She is unable to bathe herself or to brush her teeth unaided due to pain and mobility issues. There is no social interaction by an activities person unless one can make their way to the dining hall these days. My daughter is totally bed-bound. Two years ago, activities staff went to the individual rooms twice weekly for social interaction and crafts of choice of the bed-bound patients. The current facility physician undermedicates my daughter so that she is in continual excruciating pain/spasms. She has on several occasions called the ambulance to take her to the hospital to get proper care, where they tell her she is not medicated properly for the pain she experiences. The facility doctor simply tells her he will not give her more and she needs to get taken out by non-emergency transport to her former pain management doctor for appropriate care. Housekeeping and staff still do an amazing job at keeping the facility clean and odor-free. November, 2019: (4 Stars then) Posting for my daughter who is currently in lockdown due to Coronavirus. Came in from Doctors Medical Center. Her favorite staff people are Carol M., Shannon, Cat, and Shanina due to their quality of patient care and friendliness. She is thankful for those who do come to work daily at risk of being infected with the virus. I was there every day prior to CV-19 and she reports that care in general has not changed since I can no longer come see her personally--a rarity in some of the facilities where you get ignored if family doesn''t come. Like many facilities of this type (99 bed long term care or rehab), staffing is an issue with several staff members being willing to go the extra mile and make life easier for their patients. Unfortunately, not all employees are of this caliber. Sometimes her teeth don''t get brushed daily since she is totally bedbound with limited hand and arm use. No bed rails--even on request--so falls can be a big risk for those who move around alot. The kitchen is as accommodating as a small facility can be, honoring requests or food swaps if they can. The facility is very odor-free and clean and residents are up in their chairs and out in the hallway when that is available, though not right now as each is quarantined to their room. However, an activity director does come around with books, puzzles, activities and even painting nails if there is time. Overall, a pretty decent place to be if one can''t go home.

My Granny is currently staying here for short term rehab. As a nurse myself I want the best for Granny. CVPA is hands down the best decision I ever made in regards to her care. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Granny always has good things to say about her nurses and cnas. She has many favorites like Hugo and Bernard. I am so grateful for the staff, Nurse Lorena noticed Granny was a bit off and promptly evaluated her and found she had a UTI. Prompt intervention was provided before any adverse effects could occur. All staff from EVS straight up to the Administrator are a complete blessing!
