The facility has attempted to remove my review, another HUGE RED FLAG! Check all the other sites and read reviews from their own employees!!! I would give this place zero stars if it were at all possible. Please, if you want to preserve any of your loved one''s dignity at all, find another spot. Except for 1 or 2 caring people, this entire operation is a sham. They would not even put pajamas on my dying mother...because, as I was told by the CNA assigned to my mom at the time, it was too much work!!!! A staff person actually looked in my eyes and told me this! A dying woman doesn''t deserve dignity at Riverview, apparently. So many red flags at this place....From the director of the facility right on down to the CNAs...they are beyond disrespectful and rude to the families of residents and they don''t care at all about the residents personal preferences, especially if the resident can not communicate. Forget it!! My vegetarian mother was fed meat on many occasions and the people there DO NOT EVEN CARE AT ALL. They know that she couldn''t protest even if she wanted to! Abhorrent is what that is!!!! My mother is a highly educated woman with a masters degree who was a well-regarded professor for 30 years. In this place...everyone is treated like they are garbage! Bedside manner is not a term anyone understands in this place! My mother''s diamond ring and necklace were both stolen from her as soon as she arrived there and the home repeatedly lied about it. I filed reports with the RI board of health and the RI State Police, and the State Attorney General, which are all currently being investigated...and then the home retaliated against me and tried to not let me in!!!!!!!!!!! My mother, who was completely immobile ''broke her femur'' and the home doesn''t know how it broke! So, they mishandled her last week, broke her femur and she passed away yesterday. NOBODY DESERVES TO LIVE OR DIE LIKE THIS! Also, check the reviews, on indeed, of past employees who say they would not put their dog here!! They also have a giant glass cage filled with birds, right near the elevator. It should be a warning to anyone considering this place. The birds are stuck in a glass aquarium and that’s their life...How you do anything is how you do everything!!!

I wanted my mother in St. Elizabeth''s but she fell and had a heart attack which caused her dementia to get much worse. She needed a nursing home right away. RI hospital said Riverview would take her. It was on my list as a backup so I accepted it thinking once St. Elizabeth had a bed I''d transfer mom. Now there is no way I''ll ever transfer her. This place is amazing. They love my mom and treat her with respect. She''s mostly catatonic and when she does speak you can''t understand her, but the nurses always make her smile. She''s always clean and dressed and well taken care of. They keep me updated on every little detail, which I appreciate. I can''t say enough great things. They also make sure my mom gets up and out with the other ladies even though that''s super difficult to do. I have zero worries now that she''s there. And please don''t listen to other reviews. Yes, I walked in one day to find my mom''s pj''s on another woman. Is this really your biggest concern? This is a dementia ward! It''s basically like being in an insane asylum, sad but true. The patients go in each other''s rooms and take things. They don''t know any better but this is why everything is labelled. If something is missing you can tell the nurses and they will track it down. The nurses have better things to worry about than if a patient has on the wrong shirt. The most important thing is the care our loved ones are receiving. The rest is just petty stuff and not important. Focus on the care and you will see how wonderful this place is and all the amazing things they do for the residents. I am grateful for all the nurses in the dementia ward. Without them I have no clue what I''d do. Also the admissions people are great too. Medicade hadn''t come in yet when she was admitted and I was super nervous they would flag something and expect me to pay $10,000/month. I''m not rich! But the admissions woman told me not to worry we would figure it out and they would never throw my mother out. My mom was in Briarcliffe for a short stay and they kicked her out because Medicare was running out. She was swollen with fluid, she had to walk to the car in her socks because her shoes wouldn''t fit. She had urinary issues among other things and their answer was, well she has a heart condition and dementia this is her life now. Awful! You would never hear this from Riverview. They would make a plan to help the situation and resolve the issues. Thanks so much to the staff there. I feel so relieved knowing my mom is well taken care of. 😌

My sister is in this facility for rehab from a broken femur bone. My family is so impressed with the care. We have high standards when it comes to her care. There is a culture of compassion throughout the building. The PT staff is amazing! They are constantly looking for ways to improve her strength, provide tools to aid in more independence and a lift for her shoes. They got her up on day one walking with a walker when the previous rehab place said it wasn’t safe to do. We are blessed to have our sister being cared for by the kind staff! Keep up the awesome job!

On Aug. 21, I told a nurse my mom wasn’t herself and the nurse assured me that mom was fine. The next morning I received an email saying they had 16 positive Covid cases and all resident families and roommates had been notified. That afternoon while FaceTiming mom, I found out from a CNA that my mom did test positive for Covid. At this time, my mom was wearing someone else’s shirt. A covid outbreak and patients are wearing other patient’s clothing - but it gets worse. Riverview treats positive patients with hydroxychloroquine and zinc. I told the staff I did not want my mom treated with hydroxychloroquine and preferred the CDC’s recommended treatment. My mom seemed to be getting worse over the weekend. By Monday she was unresponsive and severely dehydrated. I requested she be sent to the hospital. The hospital said mom was so dehydrated she had “kidney injury.” Tuesday, I was read the nursing home “rights” regarding the daily rate to hold her room while mom was hospitalized - they have to do this by law. I declined and told them to pack her belongings. When I opened her possessions I found several articles of clothing that were clearly marked with another patient’s name, and several of my mom’s pieces of clothing were missing. And the final straw, mom’s dentures are missing. A handful of dedicated nurses and a one excellent Social Worker don’t make up for the incompetent administration and ongoing issue of short staffing, especially on the weekends. No visitation and still massive Covid outbreak that you don’t hear about on the news. I did file a complaint with the RI Dept. Of Health. Thanks to staff at RI Hospital and lots of prayers, mom is recovering from Covid at 90 years of age. Avoid Riverview Nursing in Coventry at all costs! In response to the administrators comments, I filed two complaints with the RI Dept of Health regarding my mom’s treatment , no one from DOH contacted me to discuss my complaints. And I actually took photos of clothes return me that belong to my mom’s roommate, marked with the roommate’s name. Yes, these are scary times, but the elderly in nursing homes are the ones getting the brunt of it. Once again I’ll advice anyone to think twice before placing a loved one in this facility.
