My wife was at Sandy Lake for 2 weeks post lymphoma diagnosis and treatment. She was there for rehab mainly. I can''t say enough about the staff, the Rn''s the LVn''s the patient care assistance and the ADON. And the therapy group is the best, physical therapist occupational therapist and speech therapist they were amazing. Our doctor felt my wife might be there for 3 weeks turns out in 2 weeks she was ready to go home all because of their excellent care.

Terrible! Let feces sit in my relative''s shower for over 24 hours yet had no problem calling me all the time to come take care of my loved one because she was being disruptive. She was improperly medicated and no one paid attention when I told them she had severe dementia. Her chart was documented in such a way that I now can''t get her into a memory care facility because her inability to understand she was a fall risk or how to use the call button was labeled as defiance. However it was made abundantly clear that she was no longer welcome there. ONE staff member went above and beyond to listen to my concerns and frustration and explain what was happening. To her I am grateful. Everyone else just asked me if I realized she was "a little confused". When the State came and did their annual audit they assigned my relative a babysitter and kept her in her unswept crumb covered room with an unflushed toilet all day to keep her out of sight. So glad to be gone from their for good!

AVOID!!! If you love your family, you won’t let them live at Sandy Lake Rehab! This place has gone down hill in many areas, but the final straw was when they LET my grandma get COVID! Her roommate tested positive for the virus and they didn’t move her out of the shared room for at least 2 days! 2 DAYS! She was living in a room with another person with the super contagious and potentially life threatening virus ?! When they were confronted them on the phone, they denied it. Well my grandma is not confused, nor does she lie. There is only bare staff there most the time so unless your family member is independently functioning, I would really reconsider. Good luck trying to talk to anyone in management there… they sent my Nana to a nursing home in Carrollton to quarantine (due to lack of space there) that has 1/5 stars….
