I am the Shower aid here at South Mountain Post Acute. I pride myself in bathing my residents and making them feel good!. My shower room is a steamy musical oasis that they all love! Since my time being here I''ve noticed a few things. First there''s the overall cleanliness of the facility, the Housekeepers are amazing and thorough. Then there''s the residents, they are happy, comfortable, excited about therapy, they are kept clean, and their needs are always met. The Therapy team is awesome! They really know what their doing and it shows by the number of residents that constantly leave because they''ve regained there strength and mobility back !. The staff here are nice and they do care about the well being of the residents here. Activities are a big thing here as BINGO is the highlight of Tuesday and Thursday. The residents flock to this event as they offer prizes for the winners! Residents come to activities to escape their thoughts and relax with other friends that live here. I can finally say I''m happy to be here!

I based my decision to stay at this facility on the 5 star rating. It was a misleading and undeserving rating. I found the majority of the staff to be lacking in common sense, bickering among each other, unable to communicate with each other and a total lack of professionalism. The dispensing of medication was inconsistent and in some cases missed altogether. Most of the meals (90%) were served cold and could not accommodate a diabetic diet. Early in my stay recovering from a broken hip, I requested assistance going to the bathroom and was left on the toilet for over an hour. That same evening I asked for pain medication and received it 6 hours later. My urinal has not been emptied in 10 days. There are some staff members who did step up and take an active role in my rehabilitation, Curtis, Toni, Sierra, Ida, Sydney, and Felicia all made my stay bearable. This facility needs to work on developing communication skills among ALL employees, time management, develop skills that empower the employees to work smarter not harder. And be accountable in all aspects of their interaction with patients. I cannot in good conscience recommend this facility to anyone. I could go on and on about my nightmare experience here but feel I have provided enough information and provided a few solutions to correct them. Please make the effort to improve both the patient and employees experience.
