I was an inpatient in the Rehab 12 years ago following a joint replacement. The Care rendered was incredible; from the nurses, physician and PT. After I had another replacement in Feb., I knew I would need Rehab again. Without hesitation, I chose St. Lawrence once again. While in the hospital, I developed covid but neither the hospital nor St Lawrence questioned my ability to receive extensive Rehab. What a total shock I was in for at the new Lawrence Rehab Hospital. New owners took over and their lack of concern of both care and the condition of the facility were apparent. Upon arriving a nurse greeted me and said to the ambulance driver.. "Is this the Covid?" I felt like an ogre. I was led to believe that I was going to get extensive physical therapy and great care. Not once did anyone explain that due to my illness, I would be going into a sub-accute section. Not once did anyone communicate that I would get minimal PT. Most of the Nursing staff lacked compassion, empathy nor provided excellent care. * My room had a torn molding on the floor, there was only one small garbage can, it was dirty ( dusty ). Even though I asked several times for another garbage can ( for the bathroom), it was met on deaf ears. My room was cleaned once in 5 days. My bed was made once in 5 days. * Both the Nursing staff and Aides treated me in a disrespectful manner. I asked one staff member if I was in the nursing home section. I was assured that I was in Rehab and there were others my age there. * PT in 2012 was extensive and thorough. I left feeling confident and ahead of the ballgame with the PT. This time, PT once per day. *On two occasions I was denied Pain meds by a nurse, even though there was an order by the MD. One Nurse yelled at me from the hallway stating "You are on more pain meds then anyone else on this floor." Nobody ever told me that I was the only one who had the type of surgery I had. * I called the Social Worker on two occasions and those calls were never returned. * I reported the nurse yelling at me and thoroughly embarrassing me to a night nurse who, in turn, reported this to the DON. I also reported this to the Physician, who wrote all of this down and basically said "Since when do nurses go against doctors orders?" These nurses (2) made me feel like I was a drug seeker. I had to basically beg for my ordered pain meds. I never requested anything sooner then prescribed. * Whenwhat all of these new medications were, I was met with rolling eyes and an attitude. I continually refused the medication that I did not need. Nobody ever discussed why or who decided to prescribe. * I was NOT rehabbed after 5 days. The doctor thoroughly agreed with that. He felt that another week was needed. *The PT presented that I had met all goals and was able to return home, alone. My Insurance Company based their decision to discharge based on the PTs notes. The doctor agreed, I was not in any condition to be discharged. * I have no family nor do I have a support system to advocate. * The food was atrocious. I rarely received what I ordered or somebody else''s tray. I had food undercooked, burnt and poorly prepared. I wound up just ordering sandwiches. * The Discharge paperwork was inaccurate as the nurse never even viewed me. She indicated that I was nonambulatory, incontinent and returning to my nursing home. All inaccurate. In fact, this LPN saw me and said "Oh, I didn''t know you could walk." I''m completely independent with all my care, I''m in my 60s and I am alert and orientedx3. My prior job had been evaluating Nursing Homes for the Govt. This facility was poorly run, communication was lacking and nurses and aides had poor attitudes. They failed to provide excellent care. I specifically asked to be discharged to St Lawrence. Had I known how horrific this place had become, I never would have selected it. It is obvious that the new owners goal is to save $, by cutting corners in all aspects. On two occasions, I left voice messages for the Administration to address these concerns. Phone calls were never returned. Thus, this review.

This place is amazing! The hospital staff here are very professional, and they''re very communicative. If there was a rating above 5 stars, I''ll select it.
