My 92 year old grandfather spent 30 days in St. Mary’s rehab after a hospital stay. He has always lived with me and has never been placed in any facility so I had a ton of anxiety being away from him and all the things you hear about nursing homes/rehabs only added to my anxiety especially since my grandfather has dementia and has days where he is very aggressive and tough to deal with. I did my research and while I literally have two rehabs/nursing homes within walking distance of where I live but I selected St. Mary’s based off of the reviews and let me tell you they did not disappoint. The extra 23 minute drive was worth it to make sure my grandfather got the best care. The staff at St. Mary’s were amazing from my first encounter with Melissa to the social worker Danielle to the Unit Manager Colleen and her amazing staff of nurses and aides. Crystal, Sheryal, and Taj you all were so kind and amazing. Kelly, Ellis and Lauren from PT/OT were amazing. Honorable mention to Kelly for being his sweet translator always looking after him and Taj for taking such good care of him and always keeping me updated and informed. There were other amazing staff members as well that I can’t remember their names but God bless each of you for all the work you do. I know it’s not easy work so I just wanted to come here and say thank you for your kindness and patience with my grandfather and helping him to a speedy recovery despite his bad days with his dementia. I know the work can be hard and the recognition little so thank you! You all are angels. May God bless each of you and thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
