Sunrise of West Babylon: Senior Living on Long Island’s South Shore
The first thing new residents notice about Sunrise of West Babylon is a warm and welcoming atmosphere. This community divides assisted living into themed neighborhoods (Sewing, Gardening, Hollywood and Travel), so residents find it easy to make friends and bond over shared interests. Of course, each neighborhood gets together for fun activities, from SingFit exercise sessions and MOMA Art Presentations to margarita socials and movie nights.
There’s plenty to explore along the South Shore, too. Some resident-favorite field trips include Argyle Park, Robert Moses State Park, the Fire Island Ferries and Captree State Park Marina. In addition, every week, Sunrise of West Babylon coordinates outings to local restaurants, plays, casinos, churches, museums and shopping centers. And, because Sunrise of West Babylon is so centrally located, it’s within 15 minutes of well-regarded medical care at Good Samaritan Hospital, Long Island Jewish (South Side) and North Shore Hospital.
Assisted Living and Memory Care at Sunrise of West Babylon
Sunrise of West Babylon won the Silver National Quality Award from the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL), and it’s not hard to see why. This community boasts three in-house doctors to provide regular checkups, plus 24/7 caregivers who can assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as continence, bathing, grooming and getting around the building.
Sunrise of West Babylon offers the Reminiscence Neighborhood for residents with memory impairments, a separate area purpose-built to provide a calming environment, easy-to-navigate common spaces, and highly customizable care. Seniors in the Reminiscence Memory Care Program benefit from Life Enrichment Managers, professionals who use Validation Therapy and other Alzheimer’s Association-approved techniques to reduce anxiety, provide mental stimulation and help older adults live their best lives.

Sunrise of West Babylon is a great place. Everything is centralized down into the dining room. They have a lot of care workers per person. They have pretty good care. They have an outside porch next to a whole treed area. They have an enclosed front porch that wraps around part of the building, and that was impressive. Everything is designed around the center where you go down to where the dining room is. In other words, nothing is too far away. The facility is very clean and updated.

I went to Sunrise of West Babylon. I saw all the rooms, the assisted living area, and the memory neighborhood. Both were shown to me. I did like the place. They just don't have a vacancy for my mother-in-law. I would be on the waiting list, which I haven't made a decision yet. I liked it. It's close to where we live so we can visit at any time if we are allowed to. Pricing was also reasonable. The place looks very clean, and they have a lot of activities for the residents. So I would like to put my mother-in-law there. Unfortunately, they don't have any openings. The staff is very nice, very helpful, and informative. The rooms were very clean, the ones shown to me were all very neat and clean. I see everyone's working. Everyone looked very happy and friendly. The menu was shown to me as well, and the dining area is very clean, everything is set up nicely. When I was having a tour, they were having exercises, they had a library and the patio was also shown to me. Exercises, movies and some residents are having some games and puzzles, so it's nice.
