Convenient transportation makes it easy for residents to do the things they love without the stress of driving, parking, or using public transportation.
On-site dining services are another way the Clairmont makes life easier for residents. Although Austin is famous for its culinary offerings, Clairmont community members may enjoy world-class dining just steps away from their apartment thanks to the residence’s 24/7 Dining Experience. Unlike traditional meal times at independent living communities which are scheduled for specific time periods, the 24/7 Dining Experience eliminates the need to plan one’s day around dedicated meal times. Instead, residents may enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner at their leisure, whether it be early in the morning or late at night.
Professionally-trained chefs prepare meals day and night, creating several meal options for residents to choose from. If a person needs meal substitutions to accommodate special dietary needs, they are welcome to request them as necessary.
Eating nutritious meals is important, but eating well is only half of a healthy lifestyle. It’s important to stay active physically and mentally, whether it be through low-impact exercises, creative sessions, or social outings. The Clairmont offers extensive activity programming, designed with residents in mind. They provide dozens of activities, giving residents a choice to attend events that interest them most. Activities include:
- Exercise classes
- Movie screenings
- Arts and crafts sessions
- Group outings to places throughout Austin
- Bingo nights
- Donut socials
Residents can spend quality time alone reading a book in the library, browse the web in the computer center, or work out in the gym. The on-campus hair salon is open to all residents, offering haircuts and hair styling services.
The Clairmont is strictly smoke-free as part of their commitment to health and wellness. Smoking is prohibited inside and outside the community, including the apartments and common areas. There are no exceptions to the no smoking policy.
Prospective residents with pets are welcome to bring their companion with them when they move in. Most cats and dogs are permitted by the pet policy, however, families with pets (or current residents who intend to adopt) should use the link above to make an inquiry about the community’s requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Is the Clairmont an independent living community, an assisted living community, or a nursing home? How do I know if their housing options and long-term care services are right for me?
The Clairmont is an independent living community (not to be mistaken for an assisted living facility). Housing at the Clairmont is ideal for people who are self-sufficient and want the added peace of mind that comes with around-the-clock emergency care.
Unlike some senior living communities that offer multiple support programs to create a continuum of care, the Clairmont is a dedicated independent living community. An individual may not receive assisted living services (including personal care and memory) through the community directly. They may arrange their own third-party care as needed, but the Clairmont’s assistance programs are limited to independent living. For more information, use the link above to make an inquiry.
Q: What amenities do the Clairmont’s apartments offer?
Apartments offer private bathrooms, emergency response systems, patios, and spacious closets. Residents are welcome to decorate their apartment as they please, creating the perfect environment to relax and feel comfortable. Additionally, residents may request on-call apartment maintenance as needed, paid for as part of their all-inclusive monthly rent.
Q: What is the Sunshine Travel Program?
The Clairmont is an eligible Sunshine Travel location. The Sunshine Travel program lets residents visit cities throughout the nation for a low cost, including places like Portland, Oregon and New Orleans, Lousiana. The process is simple:
Residents choose an eligible Sunshine location in a city they want to visit.
They book transportation to the location, on their own terms.
The host community provides a welcoming place where guests may enjoy complimentary housing for up to seven days, including three meals a day, complimentary transportation around the area, and access to community activities.
Professional staff assist guests with compassion and attention to detail, providing everything they need to have the pleasant vacation they’ve always imagined. For more information, use the link above to make an inquiry.

No. The Clairmont is a non-medical independent living community for persons who are largely self-sufficient. Instead, their staff provide emergency assistance as needed and are not equipped to offer ongoing medical attention. The Clairmont Retirement Community was an older facility. It's all on one level, and it's very sprawling. It has long corridors, and the corridors are not completely level. There are several level changes in the corridors that are accomplished with ramps. I did not feel as comfortable in that facility as I did in the other place. The rooms were much smaller. They were about half the size of the other place's living spaces. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary in terms of amenities. They had common areas, a library, and an activity room. I was dissatisfied with the meal that I got there. It was supposedly to be chicken fried steak, but it was a little chewy and it had poor flavor. It tasted like it was something that you take out of the freezer and microwave.
