My mom went to Anoka Homestead after a fall to recover. We brought her home early because the care was so bad! It was bad right from the very beginning. She had a broken right shoulder and right tibia. She left the hospital at noon, we checked her in around 2:30 pm, I left around 5pm to make food for my dad. At 7:30 she called crying She wanted to come home that it was awful there. I was there in five minutes. She said she couldn''t get anyone to help her to the bathroom and she pee''d her pants because she couldn''t wait any longer. I cleaned her up and then told the nurse we were leaving and I needed her pain medication. We were told we could have them. Then the nurse proceeded to tell me she was a professional so why wouldn''t she do her job. She first told me they had a 1 to 20 aid staff then changed it to 1 to 10. She also told me mom didn''t push her call button and that the computer timed how long it took for the call buttons to be answered. I told her to go look and she refused. I then discovered she had not had any pain medication since she left the hospital at noon. By this time it was 8 o''clock. When I asked why they hadn''t check to see if she needed some, they said she had to ask. My response was how can she ask when no one answers the call button? They did finally gave her some oxicodine. When I asked about the muscle relaxants because she was having muscle spasm. They said they didn''t have any, I then reminded them I had brought them from the hospital. They then found them. I ended up spending the night and found out they were not giving her or asking about her pain because her prescriptions didn''t show up until 10:30 that night. She was there for 10 days and it never got better. The food was ALWAYS cold, and you had to ask them to warm it up in a microwave. She fell once trying to go to the bathroom and blamed her for not waiting for them. Nevermind they never answered a call button. Several times I walked through the unit, with red flashing lights on rooms because no one was answering the call button. One time I noticed no one seem to be on the floor, later I noticed it was because all the aids were have a family style dinner and no one was there to help the patients. Needless, to say we as a family figured things out, got her home to care for her. We were giving her all her care anyway. They also seem to think they know your health insurance benefits better than you do. They billed us a $20 co-pay a day for her drugs and it took the insurance company calling them telling them that we had 100% coverage. Question everything these people do!

My father-in-law was there for a few weeks to recover. The night staff is the worst that I''ve ever seen. My father-in-law was there for a few weeks to recover. The night staff is the worst that I''ve ever seen. Rude and disrespectful is an understatement,he pushed the call button for over an hour and I believe it would''ve still been going off if we didn''t show up. All the staff did was walk around us to shut off the light and walked out, Made a comment as she walk out but couldn''t hear what she said. Talked to the lady at the front desk and she called the head manager. Voiced our concerns and he said it would be taken seriously. Went in a few days later and the staff members got worse telling him to shut up at night as he laid there in pain, staff said he had to wait for the morning. He ended with a big open sore on his heel and back side as the staff members never checked on him. THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN. DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVE ONES HERE AT ALL

We have had an overall good experience so far at The Homestead at Anoka. My mother enjoys the many activities that they have on site. Today an old car show in the parking lot and Elvis music at 2:00, then Bingo at 6:30. I can't comment on the food, as I bring my mother frozen homemade meals. My mother is doing more there socially than she did at home. I would recommend The Homestead at Anoka to family and friends.
