I am beyond thankful that we found New Beginnings for my sister. I love my sister so much. We looked at many other places. As soon as we walked into the lobby and met with the Director, we knew we found the right place. It is homey and comfortable and the staff are always friendly and regularly go above and beyond for my sister and for us. I can’t thank them enough.

My loved one lived here in 2020. It was not as advertised (no garden or farm to table dining, minimal security, no organized activities), but was fine for what we needed. Then, management changed and staffing was decreased to 1 per 15 residents. They, therefore, were unable to offer the care many of the residents required. This place is best for independent residents who need minimal help with ADL's. The rooms are large and the cook is excellent. However, residents cannot age in place and once they need more help, they will need to move elsewhere. Also, the only pleasant outdoor space is across the large parking lot, making it inaccessible for most residents. The only residents who went outside were the smokers who congregated outside the front door.

NB is not how it is described in their brochure. The garden was abandoned years ago and therefore, there is no farm to table program. There are no enrichment activities. The only green outdoor space for residents to enjoy is across the large parking lot, making it inaccessible for most. The only residents who go outdoors are the smokers who congregate outside the main door. Security is minimal. Owners decreased the staffing ratio to 1 caregiver per 15 residents, which makes it impossible for the residents to receive anything above the minimum of attention. Staff turnover is high as they are frustrated that they can't provide the care the residents deserve due to the poor ratios. Meanwhile, management seems focused on filling the beds, regardless if they can provide the care. This place may be fine if your loved one is mostly independent. Rooms are large. The cook is excellent. They cannot age in place. If they need assistance with ADL's, look elsewhere.

Very poorly staffed with uneducated, untrained employees, and overall, they are very understaffed. At any point in the day, it is likely that you will not find anyone but the cook and maybe an attendant (no education required) - but generally, no one present - long before Covid-19 explanations. Nothing is as described in marketing information provided. Residents are NOT getting organic whole food and what they serve is appalling, and it is also UNHEALTHY (ex-white bread sandwich and chips). The cook was great - a very kind person - but she is given what she is given to cook. The underqualified staff cook on the weekends - frozen onion rings, hot dogs, jarred gravy on what looks like regurgitated fried meat patties. Corn floating in water - all unhealthy! Building is not secure and that makes it unsafe for everyone, including the one attendant who might be there, somewhere, at night. Residents can't easily get to an appointment because the staff USE THEIR OWN CARS, if anyone there can take them at all due to understaffing. Do you want your loved one riding around in "just anyone's car"? It could be a great place, but it's just a place where those who work there are trying to keep jobs they don't have to truly function in - and they were working from home, or not working, long before Covid. DO NOT TRUST WHAT THEY TELL YOU - YOUR LOVED ONE DESERVES BETTER.
