A special shout out to the activities director on the third floor that made life worth living again for my father after my mother passed away. She has a very energetic and motivational personality and my family and I appreciate all she did for Dad.

This reviews only pertains to the memory care area. First, the smell once you get to the memory care area is stomach churning. Second, they are understaffed and most staff there doesn’t seem to care anyway! There are probably so many falls and injuries that go unreported. This place almost killed my grandmother! The residents in this area are no longer able to remember things so they can’t explain how they have major bruising or what happened so no one is held accountable. If staff does not have patience they have no business working with these vulnerable people. Arizona needs to step it up for our elderly!

Warning: Do not I repeat do not send your loved ones to the Palazzo Memory Care Unit !!! Don''t let the 5 Star Signs out front fool you, they do not practice what they preach!! Our mother went into the Memory Care unit in August 2021 from that day until she was hospitalized In October 2021 due to lack of supervision from evening until she was found in the early AM completely bruised, broken arm and numerous other injuries. This facility claims from the Marketing person who lures you in with great promises to the business office staff to the staff in memory care (some were helpful but clearly understaffed) that they will do their utmost to make your family member feel welcome, taken care of properly, clean their rooms, change their bedding, shower, attend to their needs in a timely efficient manner and NONE of these things occurred day after day without the assistance of our family. Beware of this place !! By the grace of God our mother did not pass away and is now in a safe and comfortable memory care facility.

The Palazzo is such a farce!! You always read “don’t believe everything you read,” “looks are deceiving,” “don’t judge a book by its cover.” Well believe me all those sayings are true when it comes to the Palazzo. Oh yes when you first walk in you walk right into a spiders web of beautiful, modern, chic atmosphere that includes a lit fireplace with cozy sofas and arm chairs along with beautiful additional tables and chairs to relax in, a bar that actually serves liquor and a bistro with soothing music playing in the background. BTW - it’s low rating is marked only because that is the only way the “post” option would show up. Otherwise I would not have rated it at all!! A big ZERO!! But then again as they say “no one knows what goes on behind closed doors” is so true. What you see are residents that are uncared for as they sit waiting for the attendants to check on them. And let me tell you the attendants are no way medically trained to assist the residents in case if an emergency. There are nurses on other floors however the attendants in mercy care won’t cal and ask that the nurse come to mercy care and attend to a resident that needs or might need assistance. Which is exactly what happened to my father. He fell twice and when advised of his falls was told he did not look bad. No bruises or bumps, no cuts seemed to be fine. Of course with Covid luring through the halls there was no way to visit and check on him ourselves. His nurse from an outside agency made her visit the following Monday. She quickly called to inform us that my father looked really bad. Had bruises to his head, could not see from his right eye and was not responding. To make a long story short he was taken to the hospital were he was diagnosed having had a stroke, internal bleeding, slow blood flow to the brain and there was nothing that could be done due to his age (94) and the dr was afraid that if anything was attempted he could bleed out due to his low platelet count. Placed in Hospice on a Friday evening only to pass away the next day. No one at the Palazzo took any type of responsibility for being so irresponsible in my fathers death. This type of care was a constant occurrence. From the top to the bottom, no one seems to care. Once again it was all about the money. Don’t let looks deceive you and your loved one. If you think about placing them there ask all the questions you can think of and ask to see each actual floor. And ask yourself and the Palazzo why they have their regular staff changing out catheters that they are not medically trained to do. And what the rooms constantly smell like urine. Don’t be fooled by the beautiful entryway as you walk in. Wolves have been known to wear Sheeps clothing. Be advocates for your elderly family that you leave in someone else’s care. You are their voice. PS: upon my fathers passing we went to claim his belongings. One of the attendants let us right in no questions asked no warning that my fathers roommate had Covid. After being there about 15 minutes two other attendants walked in and asked us to leave due to Covid. Hmm….once again, the lack of common sense, no thought about care for each residents family does not surprise me at this point. Once again in speaking to the director “Chuck” was like speaking to the wall…..you could hear birds chirping. It’s a shame that even a few of the good employees (there are a few) totally agree that the Palazzo is not as grand as it wants the public to believe.

My Mom became a new resident three days ago. While it''s early going, her decision has been reinforced positively numerous times already. Palazzo''s staff is caring, cheerful, well-trained, and anxious to assist. Throughout the planning and due diligence we conducted prior to Mom signing-off on her choice of Palazzo we received clear and complete answers to our questions from staff and management. The meals we sampled randomly were outstanding. The employees we approached are friendly and took a sincere interest in assisting us and answering our questions. Palazzo''s newly renovated and redesigned common areas are well-conceived and very attractive. And, the residents we spoke to in the Bistro and dining areas expressed pride in calling Palazzo home. Our move-in process went smoothly. We found Mom''s apartment freshly painted, deep-cleaned, and ready for Mom''s furnishings and accessories to make it her own. A surprise, complimentary hors d''oeuvre plate with a beautiful orchid arrived at her apartment door on moving day--we were tired and famished after a long day--what a welcome touch that was!
