Thrive at Montvale is truly a wonderful Senior Living community. The staff is extremely kind and dedicated, and seem to have a deep and sincere passion for the care and support of their residents. I’ve toured several assisted living options around NJ for my mother, and this one was by far my favorite as well as hers. The facilities are so clean, modern, and updated. I walked off the job midday after working there full time for two months. The day I started working, there was IMMEDIATE NEGATIVITY. I CAN''T MAKE THIS UP. If I could rate it zero, I would. As an ex employee, the management is horrific, the majority of the employees are low level types with ghetto mentalities, low self esteem, and very disrespectful attitudes. This place will employ anyone they can get. The minority employees run roughshod, and do not have any ethical approach to other employees (especially white employees), or any ethics guide to onsite behavior whatsoever. They don''t listen to, or respect the actual "managers". THEY TELL THE MANAGEMENT WHAT THEY WILL OR WILL NOT DO, REGARDING THEIR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES !!! Not one manager held enough integrity, sternness, or respectability for anyone to take them seriously enough. None of the employees are afraid to lose their jobs because the management is DESPERATE for workers, and as minorities, they feel entitled. One server in particular, who is the fat spanish girl (you can''t miss her, she''s so huge) would drag her external problems to the job and have emotional outbursts, curse at people in spanish, and break dishes without any repercussions. She was never reprimanded. TALK ABOUT AN ENTITLED "PROTECTED CLASS". (I BLAME PETER DIRECTLY FOR THIS. HE DEALT WITH IT DIRECTLY. HE IS WEAK, AND IS AFRAID TO DEAL WITH MINORITIES ON A PROFESSIONAL LEVEL. HE FEARS BEING LABELED "RACIST". HE FEARS THEIR INTIMIDATION TACTICS. WHEN PEOPLE SENSE WEAKNESS, THEY TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE. THAT IS WHAT HAPPENS HERE.) NO MATTER HOW MUCH GOOD I HAD DONE, NO MATTER HOW MUCH I HAD HELPED EVERYONE, NO MATTER IF I COMPLAINED, NO MATTER IF I KEPT MY MOUTH SHUT - **I WAS ALWAYS THE BAD GUY** BECAUSE I DO NOT GIVE INTO MOB BULLYING. IF YOU HELP THE MINORITIES, THEY THEN EXPECTED YOU TO DO THIS EVERYDAY, ON TOP OF YOUR OWN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES. WHEN YOU DON''T DO IT, EXPECT CHAOS. THE MANAGEMENT HAS ZERO INTEGRITY. The food was horrible in my first month, but only improved by the one sous chef that quit because they wouldn''t give him a worthwhile salary raise. Between myself and that chef, they lost the two best workers that they had. I''ve seen full plates of food returned on multiple occasions, and have experienced multiple complaints about the food overall due to the poor leadership of the "head chef". There is no professionalism. The "head chef", Sergio, is a failure, and uses the sous chef, Luis, to make up for his lack of ability. He''s a failure at his own restaurant business, and settled on an easier scenario at this corporate job, because he has no real skill. The only one making a difference at this point is Luis, the other sous chef. Peter, the president, as well, is a weak leader at best, and will make a decision based on "convenience". HE COWERS TO MINORITY MOB RULE. He will say ANYTHING to satisfy the moment. Overall, they throw all responsibility on "the next guy", because they can''t keep any employees of quality, and cannot handle the minority employees. IF YOU COMPLAIN , THEN YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. I HAD GONE UP AND BEYOND ON A DAILY BASIS, AND I WAS TREATED AS IF I WERE THE PROBLEM. The kitchen is chaos, with horrendous working conditions. It''s amazing that there have been no serious accidents. As well, the kitchen is in constant need of multiple important things to function, like a mop, or dishwasher soap for days! The dishwasher was leaking water all over the floors for at least two weeks when I left. They all claim that they are a "team", but then abuse the best players. Horrendous. No wonder the residency is only half full. **I intently recommend looking elsewhere.** I''ve never seen or experienced such lunacy in my life in one work space like I had at Thrive.
