My stay was a nightmare from the beginning. Transferred from SGAH in excruciating pain, there was no one around to place me in a room or continue my care. I was in isolation and received very brief PT for the total knee replacement surgery I’d had a couple of days previously. No one followed up on the need for ice to keep swelling down. In 2 weeks I received one disastrous “shower”, my sheets changed twice. I had bleeding bed sores, for which I was given cream to put on myself. They never looked at it. The staff did not have me ready for a Covid vaccination off site, so I missed having it. One male staff cursed at me for crying. After that, I maintained a low profile until I could be released. My need for pain meds given regularly was ignored unless I asked repeatedly. The call button was seldom answered in less than a half hour, although I heard staff talking and giggling outside my door. I’m sure that having no visitors, and therefore no advocate, contributed to the situation. 7 weeks later I had to have an additional painful procedure, and I’m still not doing well. I feel that my time there is responsible for my current awful condition. The first 2 weeks of care are crucial in healing. I received minimum care. Be careful where you place your family. I see there’s no response. I’m making a report to Medicare. I’m five months since being there and crippled, basically. How does this place have a high Google rating? There are MANY bad reviews that must not have been factored in. Do yourself and family the favor of reading those. UPDATE: I was never contacted by staff after I told them all that went on during my horrible stay. Not an apology, not anything. It’s now 16 months after and my knee NEVER got better. The first two weeks are crucial and I got the worst care. No ice !! I still cannot believe what I went through. I have had to do every type of treatment available that Medicare allows. I can only bend my knee 90 degrees, same as a year ago. 9 months PT, acupuncture, massage, TENS, EMS, shots, hydrotherapy, even hypnotherapy. Pain 24/7. I do blame the lack of necessary care. Wish I could legally pursue for compensation, but lawyers say the administration is too powerful.

The OT & PT staff are excellent. Unfortunately, the nursing care is abysmal. My father suffered with reused dirty catheter bags, repeat UTIs and mismanaged medication- all in a 6 week span. My mother was there daily to try to oversee his care and was consistently ignored by the nursing staff. They refused to clean his catheter bag or check on medication that left him asleep and weak most days. He got out only after getting so sick they had to call 911. Incredibly sad experience.
