My sister will be moving to Windrose at Weymouth. They told me that they only hire staff that's trained in memory care. The staff seemed very nice, they knew people that were there by their first names. I saw someone feeding a patient and somebody washing the hair of another patient. It's just all around a good feeling. The rooms are awesome, they're like dorm rooms except you don't have a roommate. They're very, very nice, we were there yesterday to bring her belongings in, and the room was very cute and nice. There are three floors, and there's a huge room at the end of each floor. And all the residents were there and they're involved in some activities like water power stuff, and I got to see them doing stuff. I like that it's closer to family, the cost is reasonable, and I like the rooms and the major fact that it was all memory care.

I found a place for my dad here. They have 3 floors with only 15 residents per floor. I felt like it's a smaller community, it's closer to me and my sister, and so far, so good. So far, I like it. His apartment is extremely clean and they have all kinds of activities going on during the day. They have tables set up if the residents want to sit down and do puzzles or any arts and crafts. That stuff is always available, but they also have things planned during the day. My father said he loves the food and he's happy with it. They have places you can go if you want to sit alone. They can stretch out all over the place like you can go in the sunroom with sofas you can sit on. There are just plenty of places to visit.

I went to visit. I liked that it wasn't very big, for someone with memory problems, it didn't seem overwhelming. I'm thinking from my mother-in-law's perspective, it wasn't a huge place, so I thought that was good for her. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. She answered all my questions. It all looked pretty neat, the area I was in looked clean. They offer a lot of activities for people with memory problems, different group activities when the weather is nice. They do try to bring them outside or on their patio area. It sounds like they're trying to keep the residents engaged and involved in different activities. They have music and different group activities. There's like a patio/courtyard area that they said that they utilize a lot in the warmer weather. I just saw a model room, so it looked nice. I can imagine going from a home to a room would be hard for someone, but the room itself looked nice. Most of the rooms have a half-bath, then there's just the bed area, and then like a small sitting area. They checked on the residents every hour at night, and things like that are important.

My husband was here for three months. It was an Alzheimer's only unit. They have three floors. I learned a lot there about Alzheimer's. They handle it differently than other places. They teach you things that you never realize. The staff and aides were very good and very caring. It's like a big mansion-type thing, but it's not formal. It has a big family room; they call it a sunroom. It made my husband feel more at home than any place he'd been. They have a lovely patio with hydrangeas. They're very welcoming and very good to the residents. I was very pleased with that. He was happy there. They had nice meals, and each meal you had a choice of two things. They were very accommodating as far as not waking them up to serve them because they get confused walking, and they'll fall. They fix their meals. If they don't eat at the time or don't feel like eating at the time, they'll set it aside and put it back when they feel like eating.
