Our family member Tim was recently in the rehab unit at Chestnut Hill of E.Longmeadow. We had an exceptionally positive experience with all of the staff at Chestnut Hill, most especially Malik Ali and his team who welcomed us in and took care of our family every step of the way. The surroundings inside and out were kept very clean, and the courtyard is a peaceful place to visit together. They arrange for transportation, OT/PT/Speech services, and helped us through the process. Not many places have a guest service manager like Malik Ali- he is outstanding and every nursing facility should have a Malik! We highly recommend Chestnut Hill to any family who needs exceptional care and service.

I can''t even begin to express how horrific my experience with Chestnut Hill was! My father (93) was taken there from Bay State after a fall to get therapy to strengthen his legs. He was an at risk fall patient with an alarm on his bed and the alarm went off constantly without anyone checking on him. He wasn''t washed, spent hours alone and was offered half hour therapy 4 times in two weeks! I was there every other day so I witnessed the inept and uncaring staff do absolutely nothing to help my father! I would never recommend this place to my worst enemy!

This place has earned another terrible review. My dad was there about a week and that was enough! They should have law suits against them! My dad yelled for help all night and was ignored. When I called him he was slurring his words and when I went there he was left in a wheelchair slumped over and gray colored when I told them to call 911 they rolled their eyes at me. They think caring for elderly is a joke. They messed up his heart medicine first day he was there. When I went to complain to the head nurse she clearly did not take it seriously even though she said she did! Run seriously run from this place. If you love your family member do not send them here!

As much as I would like to share the entire story about how my aunt was neglected at Chestnut Hill of East Longmeadow, it would be too long for this forum. Since we had not been able to enter the facility since early March due to the pandemic, we could not monitor her care. Suffice it to say, instead of tweaking her anxiety medication when she became increasingly agitated, they should have tested her for a urinary tract infection. When they finally did, it was too late, and she passed away at Bay State Medical Center 10 days later, on August 17. That, and the final indignity of having her earrings and chain with cross taken from her before being sent to the hospital, compels me to urge anyone considering sending a loved one there to reconsider. They, of course, claim no knowledge of the disappearance of the jewelry and she was buried without it. In short, I would not leave my dog there for an afternoon.
