Within 4 days of my grandmother being placed here she developed a UTI and caught COVID. They are not following their own policies or protocols when it comes to COVID, and I have little doubt they are in violation in several other areas. The treatment of my grandmother has been horrific, they have left her sitting in her own urine till the entire bed was absolutely saturated. Then didn’t provide water to her for over 24 hours despite numerous request. She is so sick after being there for 1 week, that we aren’t sure she will survive this next week and they don’t care in the slightest. Her treatment has been inhumane, the conditions are abhorrent and the administration is despicable. If you’re considering putting a family member here, DON’T. If you currently have family placed here that you care about, get them the hell out. This placed should be shut down and staff prosecuted.

The staff at Sequim Avamere was very helpful and my mom loved them. But people transferring into this facility need to know that they are not responsible for any loss of your property during your stay. My mom came in with a case with her hearing aids, which she did not use her entire stay. The hearing aids were listed on her inventory list the day they released her as being there at that time. An hour later I called them and reported that the hearing aids did not come home with her. They did look again. But as they did not find them, told me that as they were never locked up in the Avamere safe, they would not replace them . We were not made aware of any of this when she checked in or we would have taken them home or had them placed in Avamere''s safe. Her hearing aids cost $6,000 and my mom can not afford to replaced them. She is 86 years old.

Forget about getting tested by the Hays med controlled area for covid if you had contact with someone that teated positive. To avoid saying they wont test you they transfer you around their KU system for 45 min til you get tired of the run around and find other more reliable means. After researching federal money given to the states for testing which includes asymptomatic testing for those in contact with positive cases one wonders why they continue with this in Ellis county. They get ins money for patients getting tested that are symptomatic then also Federal money and they dont appear to be using the Federal money for the testing asymptomatic patients as mentioned above like surrounding counties ( Rooks county for one). It seems these covid cases are being skewed by not testing asymptomatic patients to. KU health systems is the largest provider in the state and in Ellis county and whats going on?
