Friendship Village Sunset Hills is really nice. It's just too big for what we're looking for. But I felt really good about them. I felt like they had a lot of staff. I was really pleased to see so many people floating around. They seemed to know the clients' names, the people they were taking care of. There were things that they said they had available to the clients that I actually saw that they were available, which I thought was good. The fact that you could go from independent to assisted to skilled nursing there. We just didn't like that you had to go to separate buildings for that. That would be a challenge for my aunt to get there to see my dad if he were to start off in that. Their prices were higher than what we wanted to spend. However, it would have been pretty much all inclusive. It looked like they had everything we needed.

We toured Friendship Village Sunset Hills. The price is probably out of our reach because it's so expensive and you have to buy in like a couple hundred thousand dollars. We didn't see apartments; we just got an overall view. We walked around the common areas and the restaurants. They have a library and a sewing room. We were impressed by most of that. If we follow up, we were going to see an apartment on the next visit. However, everything was immaculate. We didn't meet a lot of staff. We met the woman who gave us the tour, and some residents walked by and exchanged pleasantries with us, but there wasn't a lot of interaction. The person was very professional. We walked around outside, and it was gorgeous. They have villas, garages, a basement, and everything, and that's what we were interested in. We like all the workout areas. They have a sewing room with lots of long tables and stuff where I could continue to take my stuff and quilt. So that impressed me, of course. Also, they have a path you can walk, and it's like a mile path.

Everything about Friendship Village Sunset Hills was excellent. It's very clean and very well-kept. The towels, sheets, blankets, all that stuff were all cleaned and laundered. I had a friend staying there and when I visited her, it was very nice. She had a little apartment for herself. She had a little fridge, a stove, and her own bathroom. She liked it. She said the staff was very nurturing and exhibited a high level of genuine care. The food service was also really pretty good. She had her own microwave and refrigerator, so she would just cook her own meals sometimes. They also stay very active. She said there's always something to do, like card games or entertainment or go to a restaurant or shopping with others. They have a beauty salon, an exercise room, and a physical therapist that works with them. So, it was great.
Read moreFriendship Village is very well-known in the area, and they had an amazing facility. They just were not confident they would be able to help with the level of care my loved one needed.
It's been 3 weeks and so far she's doing well. The registration process was well coordinated and smooth. The facility is extremely clean. The staff seems genuinely kind and courteous. I'm very extremely satisfied so far,

They have villa homes and then the regular apartments that you have to put in like $200,000 or something to get into it. Then they have a maintenance fee of like about $3,200 to $3,600 a month you have to pay, and that's for the upkeep, for your meals and all that. It's a big expense to stay there. I think she only showed us one room that was empty, and that was like the one-bedroom apartment style, and it did have a balcony. If you wanted one with a better view, then that was like about $200 more a month. They have everything there. The staff went into the financial part right away, and we got confused with all the plans. It's sort of like a country club or something, you get the impression of that. There's the swimming pool and they have all kinds of activities. They have the vans that take you out, there's a library, and a theater room.
