This is a horrible horrific place to send anyone. The nursing staff are unprofessional uncaring vindictive and their license should be revoked. I sat this because I am also a nurse and I haven’t seen or worked in a place that treat patients horrible. They speak to them in a horrible manner. They ignore them when they need them the most. My mother waited an hour and half before she was given a breathing treatment. They don’t check on her throughout the night. They left her in a soiled diaper. I will definitely turn them into the board of nursing and the better business bureau. One night my mom waited for a breathing treatment and was told the nurse was on lunch break. She waited and waited and she came when she wanted to come. I was so disgusted because family is not allowed to stay and visiting hours are from 8:00 am to pm…… I called the front desk again and finally someone answered and I spoke to the nurse and she said your mom didn’t appear in any distress so I didn’t give her one. I told the nurse that “ if the patient is requesting a treatment then give it. Who are you to say someone is not having trouble breathing when you never came in the room and why would you wait till someone is in distress to give them medication they were asking to help them.” The nurse name is Monifa an agency nurse. If I knew her agency I would definitely notify them on her behavior.

There is no receptionist at night to let people in or out. Had to go looking down the hallways looking for someone to let me out. It seem like the whole staff goes on break at the same time once the front office is gone. Someone was asking for help in another room but they had to wait for someone to come in from break because no one was on the entire hallway. I am sure the front office is not aware what happens when they leave, at least I hope not. There are few good staffers but for the most part horrible service. This is not how it is supposed to be. And I only named a couple of problems I have seen.

My mother tragically died a year ago this month in the care of people I thought I could trust. We are not talking about a COVID-19 death. Even though that would be hard to cope with. At least I could have some resolution. I will never get over what happened to my mother while she was in their care. I spoke with my mother in April of last year by phone, because due to Covid-19 we could not see her in person and she complained of severe pain. My mother was not the type person who ever complained of pain and if she did, you better get her to a hospital immediately. I hung up the phone and called the D.O.N. and told her to get my mother to a hospital, she refused and said and I quote “We don’t want that old COVID here.” I replied, “Tell her doctor to call me.” He examined my mother and sent her straight to the hospital. The hospital called me at 2:00 a.m. and said after a full exam she had suffered a recent traumatic injury. He said her hip was completely shattered and she was slowly bleeding to death. After 3 surgeries she succumbed to her injuries. I confronted the nursing home and they admitted that they accidentally dropped her moving her from the wheelchair to the bed in a lift. No one in our family received a call from the nursing home about this accident, but they did try to cover it up by telling me she could not go to the hospital when I told them to send her. Shame on you, Lakeland Nursing Home for the suffering you put my mother through, and the grief you put our family through.
