If I was judging this facility on the aesthetics of the building and the events they are constantly posting on Facebook, I would rate this organization off the charts. But I am not! I have two friends that just had to be moved from Memory Care at the Blake.Since there is no systematic programming that addresses activities of daily living at the Blake, the director told the family in California to hire a full time attendant for these two women. However, there were still many problems since the attendant only worked 8 hours a day. Frequently these 2 women missed meals or were not assisted with dressing unless their attendant was present. They have been moved to a new facility whose directors and staff are trained in geriatric care. They no longer need additional assistance.

A beautiful facility with employees that seem to care for the residents and their well being. There seems to be plenty of weekly and monthly activities for residents, including cultural outings, lunch at local restaurants, and opportunities for trips to the grocery store, to name a few. Families are always encouraged to visit and participate in special events throughout the year, like Halloween trick or treating, Mardi Gras Ball, Mother’s Day brunch, or even just a Sunday matinee in the theater with their loved ones.
