Live the Full Life at Sunrise at Wood Ranch
Sunrise at Wood Ranch’s convenient location in Simi Valley puts it near cultural venues like Strathearn Historical Park, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and the VFW Museum, where residents take frequent trips. It’s also close to parks, nature trails, golf courses, and stellar medical care at Simi Valley Adventist Hospital and Sierra Vista Medical Clinic. Residents and their families are enthusiastic about Wood Ranch’s staff, praising their communication, caring and willing to try even “quirky” ideas to keep seniors fulfilled in mind, body and spirit.
This fun, caring staff runs the robust activities calendar, including a wide range of entertainment. Mornings often start with the Coffee and Chronicles get-together or a stroll along the walking paths with the walking club. Then there are Wii bowling tournaments, Bocce Ball team playoffs, drumming lessons, visits from four-legged friends and themed games with family, staff and friends. When the sun goes down, residents enjoy happy hours, craft socials and movie nights.
Dining is always a big social event, too, especially with chef Drucilla “Dru” Ervin in the kitchen. She’s got over 20 years in the industry, and it shows. Residents love her herb-roasted chicken, chicken Milanese and teriyaki chicken and say that her dessert menu is to die for. She and her chefs can whip up special requests for visiting family members and seniors with nutritional restrictions, including low-sodium, no-sugar and vegetarian diets.

Their dining is almost like a restaurant, you can sit down between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm and order from the menu and they have several options. So if someone isn't happy with the menu, that's too bad. They also have memory care there as well. The staff is very friendly and they care about the people. There were a lot more tenants that needed a higher level of assistance there than in other places we toured. They're located close to a lot of restaurants, gas, food, a postal office, and all that.

Good community. The building is a little older and the community looked cleaned. The amount was more than we expected.

We thought the Sunrise at Wood Ranch community was just amazing and we really appreciated everything they did for our loved one. Our loved ones room was always very clean and the staff members were just amazing. They were so supportive and always gave a lot of personal contact and touches to our family. We liked how they have separate floors and separate areas depending on the "health state" of the residents, we thought that was very respectful.

The Sunrise at Wood Ranch was very much the same as the other place I visited. It's just a little fancier, it has carpet everywhere where the other place did not. It seemed to be a little higher-end. I think the quoted prices reflect that. I was impressed with the staff. The residents appeared to be happy and well-cared for. We were there earlier in the day, so I didn't see anything about the food, but the dining room certainly looked very nice. The facilities were all clean. There was a piano recital going on during our visit and from what I could hear, the pianist was very good. We saw several rooms and liked them. I thought I would be more comfortable there than at the other place we saw. It was a little bit more of a formal atmosphere, but not stilted or stiff. It was just a little too fancy for my friend.
Read moreSunrise at Wood Ranch was excellent. The people were very knowledgeable. It's nice and homey. It's a well-manicured place. There're activities there. The rooms were very nice.
